The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off with a thrilling start as the USA, co-hosting the event for the first time, defeated their neighbor Canada in a high-scoring match.
This historic moment for world cricket is made even more significant by the substantial increase in prize money for the tournament’s ninth edition.

T20 World Cup 2024 Prize Money?
The total prize pot for the 2024 T20 World Cup is an impressive US$11.25 million, nearly double the $5.6 million from 2022. This increase ensures that all 20 participating teams will receive a share of the prize money.
The champions of the T20 World Cup 2024 will not only lift the trophy but also take home a hefty prize of at least US$2.45 million (approx. INR 20.3 crore). This amount represents a jump of $850,000 from the previous edition. The runners-up will be awarded US$1.28 million (approx. INR 10.6 crore), marking an increase of $480,000.
The semi-finalists who do not advance to the final will each receive $787,500 (approx. INR 6.5 crore), up from $400,000 in 2022. Teams reaching the Super 8 stage will earn $382,500 each (approx. INR 3.1 crore).
Those finishing between the 9th and 12th positions will be awarded $247,500 each (approx. INR 2.05 crore), while teams ranking between the 13th and 20th positions will get $225,000 each (approx. INR 1.8 crore).
Additionally, each team has the opportunity to earn $31,154 (approx. INR 25.8 lakhs) for each win during the first round and Super 8 stage, on top of their prize money.
