Cricket is expanding its horizons in the United States, a country known for its love of basketball, soccer, and baseball. USA Cricket and American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) launched Major League Cricket (MLC) in 2023.
Despite its recent inception, MLC has quickly gained a devoted fan base among cricket fans.

Los Angeles Knight Riders
Owned by Knight Riders Sports Pvt Ltd, this team is managed by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta’s Mehta Group. The owners also manage the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
MI New York
The New York-based franchise is owned by Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the Reliance Group. This company, which also owns the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, named their MLC team MI New York.
San Francisco Unicorns
Owned by Indian-origin entrepreneurs Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan, the San Francisco Unicorns add a tech-savvy touch to MLC. Rajaraman and Harinarayan co-founded ventures like Junglee Corp., Cambrian Ventures, and Kosmix.
Seattle Orcas
This team is co-owned by the GMR Group and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. GMR Group, which also co-owns the IPL team Delhi Capitals, brings its cricket expertise to the MLC through the Seattle Orcas.
Texas Super Kings
Owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd, along with business partners Anurag Jain and Ross Perot Jr., the Texas Super Kings bring the legacy of IPL’s Chennai Super Kings to MLC.
Washington Freedom
Indian-American businessman Sanjay Govil owns the Washington Freedom. Govil founded and serves as chairman of the international technology platform supplier Infinite Computer Solutions.
With such influential owners, Major League Cricket is poised to make a significant impact on the American sports landscape, drawing fans from across the globe and boosting cricket’s popularity in the USA.
