The winners of the Champions Trophy 2025 will receive a handsome US$2.24 million (Rs 19.45 crore) along with the coveted trophy on March 9.

The runners-up will also be rewarded with $1.12 million (Rs 9.72 crore), while the losing semi-finalists will each receive $560,000 (Rs 4.86 crore. The total prize pool for the tournament stands at $6.9 million (Rs 59 crore), which is a 53% increase from the 2017 tournament.

At every level, participating teams are also given incentives. Each team that wins a group match will receive around $34,000 (about Rs 29 lakh). Fifth and sixth-place teams will each receive $350,000 (Rs 3.04 crore), while seventh and eighth-place teams will receive $140,000 (Rs 1.21 crore).

Tournament Format and Schedule

The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight top ODI teams divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, intensifying the competition.

According to Republic TV, the first match is scheduled to be held between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19, 2025. March 9 is the date of the final match.

Hosting and Significance

Pakistan is set to host this global cricket tournament, marking the first time since 1996 that it has hosted such a major event. There will be matches in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. 

A total of 15 games will be held across Pakistan and Dubai, as India opted not to travel to Pakistan for their matches, instead agreeing to compete in the neutral location of the Gulf city.

Every four years the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy occurs with eight ODI teams that are selected as part of the global criteria. The women’s Champions Trophy competition will introduce T20 matches as a new addition to their competition starting in 2027.
