Azam Khan, a middle-order wicketkeeper-batter from Pakistan, has faced criticism for his performance in international cricket.

Despite representing the national team in recent matches, he has failed to make a significant impact on the field.

The son of cricketing legend Moin Khan, Azam made his T20 international debut in Nottingham in July 2021. However, he has yet to score a century in the format, averaging only 13 innings with a highest score of 30*.

With just 88 runs to his name for the national team, his performance has drawn considerable scrutiny from fans and the media alike.

Legacy of Moin Khan

Azam’s father, Moin Khan, is revered in Pakistan cricket history. Moin enjoyed a prolific career, representing Pakistan in 69 Tests, scoring 2,741 runs, including four centuries.

He also excelled in ODIs, playing 219 matches and accumulating 3,266 runs at an impressive strike rate of 81.30.

While Azam has garnered a reputation in domestic cricket, particularly in the Pakistan Super League, with 2465 runs in 110 matches at a strike rate of over 146, his struggles at the international level persist.

His recent series against England and Pakistan saw him record double ducks, raising questions about his selection.

The challenges of living up to his father’s legacy and the pressures of international cricket weigh heavily on Azam Khan. As he strives to reinvent himself, both his supporters and critics will closely monitor his performance on the field.
